Mrs. Kirby's Class

Today students from Mrs. Kirby's math class were learning about using measurement tools and applying their knowledge of measurement and addition to find distances from various areas in the outdoor learning center.

Booster Club Visit

Each student received a certificate congratulating them on completing their first week of school from our Booster Club along with a tiger paw pencil. What an awesome group of parents and boosters we have at SES! They also provided breakfast for our staff. Thanks for remembering all of us!

New Adventures

This year, I will have the pleasure of working as AP at two of Smithville's schools! I am very excited about the opportunity to be involved with our children from Pre-K through fifth grade, as well as, our teachers, principals, and parents. There are many positives that come with this opportunity and I look forward to a year full of new adventures.

TAKS Update

Well, fourth graders have finished writing TAKS, and now fifth graders have completed round one of their Reading and Math TAKS test. So, we are off and running with our testing season. The kids have been showing a great attitude, and are modeling our spirit at SES "Bring It On." The next testing dates are for third and fourth grade reading and math, and fifth grade science, which will be happening the last week of April. Thank you for believing in our school, we are "Recognized," for many reasons.

Taste Test - from the garden

Fifth graders have taste test from the garden. Junior Harvesters share some of the fruits of their labor with their fellow classmates. Junior Harvesters is facilitated by Mrs. Medrano. Tastes pretty good!

Video Announcements

Wow! A special shout out to Mrs. Gutierrez, the Tiger Times News crew, and Ms. Murray for the video announcements today. The announcements featured our very own students and faculty in video! It was absolutely incredible to see how our kids responded to them. The excitement was evident as I walked down the hallways. I have a feeling this is just the beginning of things to come! Way to go, SES!

2011 Happy New Year

As I walk around the halls and classrooms of SES, the word happy becomes evident. I can say that being at an elementary school truly exemplifies Happy New Year. Students are beaming!! From sporting their new wares, too simply truly being happy to be here; wow, alot can be learned from young ones. I know I am happy to be here for the energy and excitement and smiles, it is hard not to be happy. So, here's to a new year and all it has to offer. May it bring a smile to your face, and if you need help with that, stop by, we have a cure for you :)
