Benchmarks

WOW! What a week for our kids and staff. We just completed out first round of benchmarking leading up to the flex days. Our students have worked so hard this week!!! Our teachers have been fabulous staying strong and consistent through the tough days of testing. This is a testament to the firm belief that SES truly cares about the performance of our kids. Iam ever amazed at how fortunate we are to have such dedicated students and staff. A special thank you to all of you who were a part of this week. So, as for the next round....Bring It On!!

Everyday does count…..

Education is similar to a puzzle, and every day of the year is adding yet another piece to increase your child's level of success. So, everyday is an important day for your child to be at school. As the holiday season quickly approaches, remember attendance is crucial for your child’s success in school. As a parent or guardian, set the example by supporting the school and being a part of your child’s education. We make everyday an important one at Smithville Elementary, and we want your child to be here.
Ask your child about:
• The lunch bunch for perfect attendance
• Classroom visits from Sami
Help us to insure the puzzle for your child is complete!

Ms. Murray's 50 Mile Trail Challenge

For those of you who do not know, just wanted to share. Last December, Ms. Murray decided to challenge herself to running a 50 mile trail run. Yes, 50 MILES!! After months of hard work, training, dedication, and mental preparation, her big race is finally here. She, along with a fellow runner and friend, Mr. Edwards (Asst. Principal at the High School), will be running this Saturday at the Palo Duro Canyon State Park.
Ms. Murray works hard to promote a healthy lifestyle and fitness with our students, and she also models this in her own life. What a great role model and an awesome accomplishment!
Good Luck, Ms. Murray! Our hearts are with you and we will be cheering you on from Tiger Land.

Campus Site Based Committee

We held our second Campus Site Based Meeting yesterday. This committee is responsible for helping to make decisions for our campus and it's continued growth. We are pleased to have three parents serve, who are also active in our community and local businesses. We also have several teachers from various areas to serve on this committee, as well as our counselor, and myself. As we continue to move forward with the 2010-2011 school year, we will be discussing ways to promote our campus and to continue with our district goals of loving kids, becoming exemplary, and working on communication. A special thanks to those of you who have given of your time to help with this important team on our campus.

SES - Where Stars Are Made

Wow! It is hard to believe we are a month into school. The year has started off with many great things going on. From our students being encouraged to participate in Marathon Kids, to Grandparents Day luncheon, to Run at Work Day, to Science day with Centipede through M.D. Anderson, to great activities and lessons going on in the classrooms; and this is just to name a few. Smithville Elementary is busy encouraging kids to be involved and learning. A dynamic environment is offered for our children and I look forward to seeing you around our school.
